Rift / Quarter Sawn White Oak Mouldings In Stock

The strength and weight characteristics of White Oak are similar to Red Oak, but it is grey to brown in colour. As with most wood species, the appearance of the mouldings and the grain pattern depends greatly on how the log is sawn/cut. With White Oak we usually carry a variety of Flat Sawn, Rift Sawn, and Quarter Sawn mouldings so please specify your preference when ordering. The Rift Sawn wood has a straighter and tighter (vertical) grain pattern than the Flat Sawn. The Quarter Cut is similar to Rift Cut with the addition of "flakes" in the wood that create distinct character especially when stain is applied.
